The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is NYC’s longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 30 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell.

About the Audio Technician Intern Role: 

The Audio Technician will work as part of the production team committed to high-level production values and safety; they are expected to contribute to a positive artist, audience, and co-worker experience. The Audio technician’s responsibilities include setting up and breaking down audio equipment, running cables, and testing microphones and other audio equipment. 


What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Audio Technician Intern will be responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as assigned by their manager, Lead Audio Engineer, BCB:

  • Design/install/maintain/strike line array sound system
  • Design/install/maintain and strike seasonal audio rental package
  • Install/maintain/strike all FOH audio system
  • Organize the inventory for, and operate the FOH system
  • Check and ring out audio system

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Willingness to work outdoors, early mornings, late nights, long days, and weekend shifts, and to work in inclement weather.

You’ll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:

  • Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for BRIC’s support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity.
  • Experience & Qualifications: Rising college senior or recent graduate from a theater/entertainment technology program preferred. Candidates must be reliable, committed, willing to work the entire summer production schedule, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Some experience working in production for live events is preferred. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, eager to learn, and committed to contributing to the team's success.  The Production Intern will be very hands-on and an organized self-starter which will take part in making the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival come to life.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.   

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The salary for this position is $16.50/hr. Meals provided on show days. College students pursuing credit for this internship can also be supported.
  • Status and location: This is a seasonal role based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park. 
  • General Schedule: 
    • May 5 - June 6 (Load In: Mon-Fri. 8 hrs/ day)
    • June 7 - August 24 
    • August 25 - September 4 (Load Out: 8 -10 consecutive 8 hrs/ day, exact dates TBD)
