About the Adult Media Education Specialist Role: 


BRIC seeks an Adult Media Education Specialist to support and advance the BRIC Adult Media Education (BME) on and off-site programs. This position oversees administrative aspects of our certification and non-certification courses at BRIC House and the Brooklyn Public Libraries, including class set up and preparation, liaising with Public Equipment and Brooklyn Public Library staff, updating curriculum, as well as programming and hosting public events. The Adult Media Education Specialist also leads BME Orientations, and serves as a point person to community producers and the public. 


What You’ll Do in the Role:


The Adult Media Education Specialist will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Senior Director of Media Education:

  • Oversee onsite and offsite program administration – prepping course materials, class setup, liaise with instructors
  • Liaise with Brooklyn Public Library staff
  • Lead BME Orientation & facility tours for the public
  • Revise existing curriculum and develop curriculum for new offerings (as needed)
  • Prepare monthly attendance reports on remote and onsite classes
  • Answer phone and email inquiries
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

  • Qualifications and Experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (MFA preferred)
    • Teaching experience in a higher education or adult education setting required
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
    • Documentary or ENG filmmaking experience
    • Competency in Google docs, Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, podcast production, television studio production a plus
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven team player who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization. 
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the media function.  

 

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $45K-$55K
  • Status, Schedule and location: This is a full-time, non-exempt role, with a Monday - Friday, 10:30am - 6:30pm schedule, based in our Brooklyn office.
