About the Media Asset Coordinator Role: 


BRIC seeks a Media Asset Coordinator to join the Media Resource & Archives team. The Media Asset Coordinator will work closely with BRIC Community Media members to assist with digital asset management specific to BRIC’s Media Asset Management (MAM) system. The position will also assist in the digitization of videos from BRIC’s tape archive.


What You’ll Do in the Role:


The Media Asset Coordinator will be responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as assigned by their manager, the Media Resource Manager:


Digitize a wide range of older tapes (Umatic, Betamax, DVPro etc.) and catalog with metadata in MAM

  • Creates and updates inventory of tape records.
  • Operates tape machines and video tapes into digital format.
  • Uploads digital assets to MAM with full metadata.


Ingest a variety of digital production assets into the MAM and apply metadata

  • Collaborates with colleagues across BRIC TV production groups and prepare materials for upcoming projects.
  • Migrates older digital files into MAM and updates metadata.
  • Assists producers finding archival footage and past projects.


Work closely with IT team on communicating enhancements and improvements to MAM


  • Troubleshoots and assists users with accessing files from MAM.
  • Contributes to MAM usability, user management, file naming conventions, and data enhancements.

  • Experience & Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study; Graduate degree in MLIS/Archives or related area preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience with archival and preservation, with a focus on digital video and media asset management.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in video production, archives, digital asset management, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of video codecs and transcoding; experience with FFV1 Codec/FFmpeg and basic command line skills preferred.
    • Knowledge of editing and Adobe Premiere preferred.
    • Knowledge of metadata and taxonomy models.
    • An interest and knowledge of Brooklyn history preferred.
    • Experience working both collaboratively and independently.  
    • Ability to adapt to change, remain flexible, and problem solve. 
    • Basic understanding of available MAM software platforms and their functionality.
  • Detail Oriented. Demonstrates love for writing, and possesses a strong passion for the power of words.  Exhibits exemplary grammar, proofreading, editing and communication skills while being attentive to accuracy.

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $45K - $55K.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, non-exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
